Actor/singer/songwriters Joe Sterling and Alex James Ellison will come together for one night at the Leicester Square Theatre Lounge on Sunday September 4 to present an intimate evening of their own acoustic music in JOE & ALEX - S.M.I.L.E. - IT'S A DUVET DAY.
Alex James Ellison trained at the BRIT School and Mountview Academy of Performing Arts and has played roles in a number of Off-West End musicals, including "Apartment 40C" (St James Studio and London Theatre Workshop) and "Whistle Down The Wind" (Union Theatre), and starred in "Aliens Love Underpants" on tour and at the Dominion Theatre. Wearing his singer-songwriter "hat", he has performed at various venues around the UK and recently supported Samantha Barks on her UK concert tour. His debut EP, "Duvet Days", was released in 2014 and a single, "Chocolate Bar", followed the following year. His music has been described as "fun pop mixed with sincere singer-songwriter".
Joe Sterling is currently playing Art Garfunkel in "The Simon and Garfunkel Story" UK and International tour. Previous credits include Buddy Holly in "Buddy Holly And The Cricketers" UK Tour, Ugly in "Honk!" at the Tabard Theatre and he covered and played the role of Mowgli in The Jungle Book UK tour. An album of his songs covered by a stellar cast of West End performers, "Somewhere In My Mind", was released in 2012 and The Public Reviews described his song-writing as "the freshest and possibly hottest new talent in musical theatre", while Andy Probst in Theatermania wrote that "Sterling's gorgeous songs tell heartfelt and witty stories in the vernacular of contemporary pop". He has also released two EPs of his singer-songwriter material - "Half A Year" and "S.M.I.L.E."
Ellison and Sterling have collaborated on occasions as songwriters - including co-writing three of the songs on Ellison's "Duvet Days" EP. Now they will join together live on stage to perform songs from "S.M.I.L.E.", "Half A Year" and "Duvet Days" as well as some brand new songs.
