Fans Invited to Participate in London's 'Wicked' Day 2008

After celebrating the 2nd anniversary of Wicked at the Apollo Victoria in London on Saturday, September 27, the cast and crew started preparing for their annual charity fundraising day. Six additional months of Wicked have recently been added to the schedule of the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London's West End. Bookings are being taken through September 26, 2009.

Wicked Day 2008 will be held on Sunday, October 26, with events scheduled across eight cities around the globe designed to raise money for good causes. In London, fans have already been invited to participate in "Positively Emerald Hat Competition" to get Wicked Day going before the event in an effort to raise money for Thrive, a charity that provides practical therapy for disabled and handicapped people by giving them an opportunity to exercise their green thumbs and do some gardening in and around the city. For Wicked Day on OCtober 26, everyone is invited to go to the Lindley Hall at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Vincent Square, London (SW1P 2PE) from noon to 6pm to join in the family-friendly festivities, which will include contests, face-painting, workshops, costumes and performances.

In conjunction with Wicked Day, the Positively Emerald Hat Competition invites everyone to make a hat that any citizen of the Emerald City would be proud to wear. The winner will receive a meal for four at London’s Hard Rock Café, four tickets to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria and the opportunity to meet members of the cast on stage after the show. To enter, take a photo of yourself of a fellow Ozian wearing your hat and upload it to the Wicked site. All the hats entered into the Positively Emerald competition will be displayed on the Positively Emerald gallery. During the week leading up to Wicked Day, members of the cast will view all the entries in the gallery and the most popular 10 finalists will be announced. These 10 finalists will be invited to bring their hats to Wicked Day for members of the cast to pronounce which hat is the most "Positively Emerald."
