EDINBURGH 2023: THE GREATEST MAGIC SHOW Q&A

BWW caught up with the team behind The Greatest Magic Show and Adults Only Magic Show to chat about bringing them to the 2023 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Tell us a bit about Adults Only Magic Show.

Our 18+ show, Adults Only Magic Show, is essentially exactly as it sounds – an incredibly impressive magic show with adults only humour at every twist and turn! We have taken the very best effects in the business, and compiled them all into this 65 minute performance where everything is combined with 18+ humour and whit throughout all of the routines. Both our favourite magicians growing up were Penn & Teller, and this show shares the same style of Adults Only humour as displayed by the world famous duo. We have the very best of mentalism, close-up magic, illusions, and an extremely dangerous routine in which both Justin and I both race to escape with the loser quite literally having to ‘reveal all’!!!

What makes it 18+?

What makes it 18+ is simply the fact that we have allowed ourselves and the audience no real limit to our performance (within reason) so that both our audiences and us can let the show anyway that we want it to! There is of course the themes and references throughout the show, coarse language, and a brief bit of ‘tasteful’ nudity that eventuates in a sensationally exciting way mid-show!

What’s on offer for helping out with the show?

Every single audience member who comes up onstage throughout the show scores themselves a free drink – on us! This is valid for any of the Assembly bars at the fringe and to answer your next question yes… it is a bribe!

Who would you recommend comes to see it?

Anyone who is looking for a sure-thing in the way of a show that will bring an enjoyable, unforgettable night of magic and laughs at this year’s fringe! We appeal to every audience member who loves magic and comedy, and we guarantee every show will be completely unique to that performance and if you are looking for a show in which you can get involved in, and want your mind blown at the same time, this is for you!

And who would you suggest maybe doesn’t?

I mean children is an obvious answer – but maybe don’t invite your local priest either. That being said – my nonna (Italian for grandma) has seen the show many times and absolutely loves it!!
