Our top picks of Edfringe shows with limited runs
While many of the shows at the festival run for the full month, a handful of shows are only on for one or two nights and here are the ones you don't want to miss!
Hot off the back of huge sold-out shows in Manchester, Birmingham and London, stellar comedians Rachel Fairburn and Kiri Pritchard-McLean once again bring their smash-hit true crime podcast, All Killa No Filla, to the Edinburgh Fringe. The hilarious and outspoken pair will host a late-night show full to the rafters of legends. So come along and watch as they overdress, overshare, over swear and if they remember, talk about true crime.
After a huge UK tour, Sara brings her Success Story to the Fringe for one night only. After deciding to be famous at 14 years old, Sara has auditioned for Barrymore, ruined Hugh Grant's birthday and seen Salman Rushdie dancing. For balance she’s also been slagged off by Geri Halliwell and stuck in a dressing room with Nigel Farage so it’s not all glamour.
Underbelly's Big Brain-Tumour Benefit
Join a massive line-up of the biggest names on the Fringe for a stupendous evening of comedy to help fight against brain tumours. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer for children and adults under 40 and increased funding for research is desperately needed. All box office income will go straight to The Brain Tumour Charity, and Underbelly will match this amount as a donation to the charity, doubling the amount that we can raise on the night. Last year’s line-up included John Bishop, Phil Wang and Maisie Adam. Check UnderbellyEdinburgh.co.uk for this year’s acts.
Janey Godley: The Not Dead Yet Tour
Janey Godley is still alive by popular demand at this year’s Festival Fringe for one night only after her record-breaking Scottish tour and can’t wait to be back doing what she does best! More hilarious anecdotes, straight from the woman that wouldn’t die and shut up.
NEHH and Lost Map Present... Pictish Trail and Friends
Eigg-based independent label Lost Map celebrates its 10th year with full band performances from Pictish Trail, L T Leif... and a new collective band. Throughout his career Pictish Trail has resolutely furrowed his own path, steadily creating a unique catalogue of recordings and performances. Island Family, a strange, unpredictable, sardonic and deeply personal record inspired by all from Fever Ray to The Flaming Lips, Liars, Mercury Rev and Beck, contains his contrarian view of arcadia; a search for the euphoric in the bucolic.
After a sold-out run at the 2022 Fringe, a historic performance at The London Palladium, a game-changing set on Friday Night Live, and a triumphant season at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Jordan returns to Edinburgh once more to take on babies, boobies, bigots and Batman in this blistering music and comedy show. After 10 years in the music biz, Jordan Gray has suddenly become one of the UK's most exciting and celebrated rising comics, recently winning the Channel 4 Comedy Breakthrough Star Award. Jordan's been featured on the BBC, ITV, Sky and Comedy Central.
Jim Smith: The Hills Have Eyes
Perthshire farmer and comedian Jim Smith dons the checked shirt again as he returns with his 2022 smash-hit stand-up show telling tales of Scottish rural life. With his trademark mix of regional accents and impressions, Jim shares anecdotes from his changing world which has seen him get engaged, become a first time father and continue farming through Covid and Brexit. Whether you live out in the sticks or embrace city life, there’s something for everyone.
Forth on the Fringe is the largest showcase event of Fringe entertainment available at this year's festival. Featuring a selection of some of the biggest names in comedy and entertainment hosted by Forth 1's breakfast show hosts, Boogie and Arlene.
