Wonderland comes to Edinburgh this August
BWW caught up with George Zacharopoulos to chat about bringing Wonderland to the 2023 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Tell us a bit about Wonderland.
If you have ever fallen in love with the perfect person, which turned out to be not quite so, then you will really relate. Without giving spoilers, Wonderland is a cross between PS I love you, Gone Girl and Catch Me If You Can.
What inspired the move from biochemistry to comedy?
A constant need for attention which wasn't being fulfilled by being in a lab, combined with the desire to disappoint my parents.
Where else might we know you from?
I have been recognised on the street for some videos which have gone viral, been on DAVE Tv, ITV's Good morning Britain (safe to say I wont be invited back to this one), British Comedian of The Year finalist and top One Direction Fan Fiction writer.
As this is your 8th solo show at the festival, do you think you know what to expect from it?
I seem to be finding and maintaining fringe audiences, last year I had full rooms every day without fail.
This year I am taking a step forward by trying a show out at the Pleasance, to give this story the best possible coverage and reach. It is a new chapter and it is so incredibly exciting!
Who would you like to come and see you?
People who click "Not for the faint hearted" videos on YouTube. And the Netflix commissioner for comedy.
