EDINBURGH 2022: Hannah Pilkes Q&A
BWW catches up with Hannah Pilkes to chat about bringing A Woman on the Verge to the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Tell us a bit about A Woman on the Verge
It's a show about what it means to be on the verge. That could mean a breakdown, that could mean a breakthrough! We're all kind of hanging by a thread these days and through these characters that are bizarre facets of me the show explores my inner "mess" in a wacky and comedic way.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
I want to take it to Edinburgh because I feel like I'm not the only one who feels deeply unhinged these days, and I think we judge that part of ourselves actually I think perhaps our "mess" is our strength! I'm also bringing it because it's just a lot of fun and I think we we need something amusing, funny and whimsical right now!
Who would you like to come and see it?
I'd like everybody to come see it! I don't think there's a specific age it's catered towards. Maybe someone with adult ADD or someone who's an over thinker (me) might get an even bigger kick out of it! I hope they find catharsis in the silly!
Where else might we know you from?
People might know me from my character videos on Instagram or tik tok, or I was featured in vulture/New York mag as a comedian you should know in 2022
Do you think you know what to expect from the festival?
I've been to the festival once before so hopefully that will give me a bit more of an idea of what to expect. I can't wait to be back! I'm already packing buckets of tea and honey for my damn voice. So ready to watch 17474 amazing shows!
