EDINBURGH 2018: BWW Q&A- Sarah Keyworth Image

BWW catches up with Sarah Keyworth to chat about bringing Dark Horse to the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Tell us a bit about Dark Horse.

Dark Horse is my Edinburgh Fringe Debut hour. It's about what it means to be a girl. About how I was brought up in a framework of expectation that didn't work for me and the impact that expectation had. It's about how now, as an adult, I am witnessing another little girl experience the same thing and is determined to help her.

You've been nominated for a number of comedy awards- does that add any pressure?

Haha - I wouldn't say a number of! I think the debut show is quite pressurised for everyone. To be honest the most pressure I feel comes from my own hopes and expectations for the show, I'm definitely my own worst enemy!

This is your debut hour in Edinburgh- do you think you know what to expect from the festival?

This will be my 9th visit to the Edinburgh festival so I hope I'm as prepared as I could be! I know there will be rain, beer and tears, probably all at once.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to see at the Fringe?

I'm an absolute menace for failing to see shows in Edinburgh and I'm going to try to be better this year. I'm excited to see Sean Mcloughlin, Jordan Brookes, Sindhu Vee, Catherine Bohart, Ed Night - I could go on and on!

What do you hope audiences will take away from Dark Horse?

I hope they come out having had a good time, that they've laughed! I hope feel they have gotten to know me a little more and maybe just maybe learnt something new!

See Sarah Keyworth: Dark Horse at the Pleasance Courtyard throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 1st - 26th August. For tickets visit www.edfringe.com
