Concluding their 11th Season, The Porters turn to Shakespeare's earliest king; John will be the 25th production on the company's march to complete the Bard's canon. Against a landscape of war and vicious political selfishness, the play examines the fallout when a weak and feckless bully runs his country to the brink of destruction.
The production will star Gus Krieger in the title role. Krieger is an award-winning actor and writer, whose notable leads with the company include Richard III, Master Ford, and Shylock. Most recently, he was seen as Walter White in the hit show of his own creation, Breaking Bard, which premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival before a full run in North Hollywood.
Helming John will be Porters' Associate Artistic Director Thomas Bigley. Most recently, Bigley directed the Henry VI trilogy to great acclaim, taking home the Valley Theatre Award for Best Director.
Filling out the cast are: Jono Eiland, Jacques Freydont, Michael Hoag, Matt Jayson, Brendan Mulligan, Cindy Nguyen, Kate O'Toole, Hersha Parady, Betsy Roth, William Gray Schierholt, Max Sorg, Molly Wear, and Dan White.
King John opens Saturday, November 4th at 8pm. The show will run Friday/Saturdays at 8, Sundays at 2, through December 10th, at:
