Sunday, Sept 24, at the New Ohio Theatre in Manhattan took place a reading of DREAM ACTS (written by Chiori Miyagawa, Saviana Stanescu, Andrea Thome, Jessica Litwak, and Mia Chung), directed by Saviana Stanescu, as part of the American AF pop-up festival, centralizing black, brown, queer and radical artistic/political voices.

The staged reading was followed by a groundbreaking panel discussion with the artists, the public, and a DREAMer.
Sergio Rodriquez, a DREAMer and activist, was the special guest on the panel.
(Sergio Rodriguez Camarena is an undocumented immigrant from Sayula, Jalisco, Mexico whose family made a new home in Santa Ana, California and he is now working at the Immigrant Justice Corps as a Community Fellow to increase access to quality legal representation in New York City)
CAST: Oghenero Gbaje, Christine Lian, Ashton Muniz, Kate Owens, and Courtney Williams. SM: Angela Griggs. Producer: Ann Marie Dorr
The panel was moderated by Saviana Stanescu, founder of Immigrant Artists and Scholars in New York.
DREAM ACTS is a play based on interviews with DREAM ACT - eligible youth, addressing their daily life struggles. Initially it was produced at HERE in 2011 and had multiple readings followed by panel discussions:

With the end of DACA, the DREAMers are in a limbo situation, risking to be deported to countries they don't even remember, and the play is becoming painfully actual again.
