Music Theatre Wichita continues its 2017 Season, "Hollywood to Broadway: A Summer Festival of Musical Theatre" by introducing patrons to Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Based on the Victor Hugo novel and several film adaptations (including the 1996 Disney animated film that uniTed Schwartz and Menken to create the songs that form the basis of the stage play), Hunchback runs through July 30 in the Century II Concert Hall in downtown Wichita, KS. The fourth of five locally produced Broadway-scale productions, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is part of the organization's 46th season, which is also the 30th season for producing artistic director Wayne Bryan.

The production stars Skyler Adams (Pippin tour) as Quasimodo, Erin Clemons (Les Misérables) as Esmeralda, Stephen Mark Lukas (Book of Mormon) as Captain Phoebus, and Monte Riegel Wheeler (The "It" Girl) as Claude Frollo. A resident company of professional singer/actor/dancers from fifteen university programs across the United States includes Britton Hollingsworth as Clopin. Matt Udland leads a choir of young performers from Butler Community College.

MTWichita's production is directed by Wayne Bryan, with musical staging created by Nicholas Palmquist (American Dance Machine). Hunchback will feature an innovative multimedia environment created by set designer J Branson and video artist Timothy Babb, with costumes by George T. Mitchell. Other members of the artistic team include hair and makeup designer Danae Jimenez, lighting designer David Neville, and sound designer David Muehl. Maestro Thomas W. Douglas conducts.
