Theater To Go will present Harper Lee's classic TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. This most loved novel comes to life on the Kelsey Theatre stage March 17-26, 2017. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the cast in character below!

Theater to Go presents this riveting drama based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1960 novel by Harper Lee. The story of tomboy Scout Finch unfolds as she watches her lawyer father, Atticus, take on the most controversial case of his career. It is a story of racial injustice, courage and compassion. Through young Scout's journey, the struggle to do what is right over what is easy inspires hope and understanding.

Christopher Sergel's adaptation of the Harper Lee novel will be presented by Theater To Go at Kelsey Theatre March 17-26 and will be directed by Ruth Markoe.

This partially autobiographical story is told through the eyes of Scout Finch, a young girl who awakens to the reality of adulthood through the violent goings in her home town. The fictitious town of Maycomb, Alabama comes to life in 1935 as he town prepares for the trial of Tom Robinson, a young Black man unjustly accused of raping a young white woman. Atticus Finch, Scout's father is the attorney who strives prove Tom's innocence. against daunting odds and a system of hopelessness for the accused. But Scout learns that even hopelessness does not prevent you from doing the right thing

The novel To Kill a Mockingbird was released in 1960 and was an immediate hit, winning the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1961. Ruth Markoe, who is directing this production is excited to share this story with audiences. "When this book was released in 1960, it had particular resonance due to the growing Civil Rights Movement." says Markoe "Although the overarching topic is racism and subjugation of African Americans in the Jim Crow South during the depression, it still speaks to the contemporary issues that we face in today's America.- inequality, justice, hopelessness and compassion." As Atticus says in the play "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it."

To share this iconic play Ms. Markoe has assembled a talented cast of actors who hail from New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Atticus Is played by Tim Anderson who portrayed Willie Loman in Theater to Go's 2012 production of Death of a Salesman. His children Scout and Jem, are played by Katie Greendorfer and Shane Howell. Their friend Dill is portrayed by Evan Chartock . Calpurnia is played by CherylAnne Jones Their neighbors are Miss Maudie (Linda Cunningham) Miss Stephanie (Deb Lasky) and Mrs. Dubose (Susan Schwirck). The accused, Tom Robinson is played by Malik Abdul Khaaliq, and the accusers are Mayella Ewell (Chelsea Szanza) and Bob Ewell ( Rob Michael Lasky). In court are Mr Gilmer (Fred Dennehy) and Judge Taylor (Jeffrey Millstein) Sherriff Heck Tate is played by David Whiteman, Rounding out the cast are Renard Wright as Rev Sykes, Lee Grabelsky as Mr Cunningham and Wayne Rossignol as Boo Radley.

As a fascinating companion piece to To Kill A Mockingbird, Theater To Go will host a special performance of acclaimed actress Prudence Wright Holme's solo show The Secret Life of Harper Lee on Saturday March 25 at 2:00. Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, was of one of America's most beloved but reclusive authors. In this solo show, we learn of her close relationships with her father and her childhood friend, Truman Capote, until they both broke her heart. She never wrote another book. Until she did. Prudence Wright Holmes has appeared in the films Sister Act I and II with Whoopi Goldberg, Kingpin with Woody Harrelson, In Dreams with Annette Bening, My Own Love Song Renee Zellweger, After.Life with Liam Neeson and God's Pocket with Philip Seymour Hoffman. On Broadway, she appeared in Happy End with Meryl Streep, Lettice and Lovage with Maggie Smith, Inherit the Wind with George C. Scott and The Light in the Piazza. She wrote and performed her critically-acclaimed solo show Bexley, OH! at New York Theatre Workshop. She is currently touring her solo Photo Flash: Sneak Peek at Theater To Go's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD  Imageshow, Call Me William, the Life and Loves of Willa Cather as well as her interactive murder mystery, Agatha is Missing. This show originated in NYC and is touring regionally. Theater To Go is pleased to host this one- time only event
