Atlanta's Tony Award winning ALLIANCE THEATRE presents the world premiere The Temple Bombing, written and directed by Jimmy Maize. A new play about the event that rocked Atlanta from Peachtree Street to Auburn Avenue, The Temple Bombing recounts the 1958 attack on The Temple, Atlanta's oldest synagogue, which bolstered local and national support for dramatic social change. The Temple Bombing will have its world premiere on the Alliance Stage from February 22 - March 12, 2017. Inspired by the award winning book by Melissa Fay Greene, this theatricalization celebrates a city that came together in the face of hatred. The Temple Bombing is developed in association with New York's Tectonic Theater Project and The Temple on the occasion of its 150th anniversary.
The Temple Bombing is written for 10 actors who play 100 characters in 90 minutes. Caitlin O'Connell and Todd Weeks lead the cast as Janice Rothschild and Rabbi Jacob Rothschild. Ensemble members include Amari Cheatom, Danielle Deadwyler, Ann Marie Gideon, Eric Mendenhall, Lee Osorio, Ric Reitz (also playing Reuben Garland), Justin Walker, and Minka Wiltz.
The creative team also includes Set Designer Meredith Ries; Costume Designer Sydney Roberts; Lighting Designer Jake DeGroot; Sound Designer and Composer Kendall Simpson; and Projection Designer David Bengali.
