Highly regarded as one of Harold Pinter's masterpieces, and winner of the 1979 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play, Betrayal has enjoyed several successful productions and revivals around the world since its opening in London in 1978. Capital Stage's production will be in the deft hands of director Janis Stevens, whose direction of Pinter's The Homecoming in 2015 was a smash hit. Betrayal will be the third production of Capital Stage's 2016-17 Season: Love + War, and will run from January 25 - February 26, 2017 with a Press Opening on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 8pm.

Emma and Jerry, former lovers, meet at a cafe in the present. Emma's marriage to Jerry's best friend Robert is falling apart, and she seeks out Jerry's consolation. From there, the play travels backwards through time - from the end of Emma and Jerry's affair to its beginning - and unearths the little lies and oblique remarks that reveal more than direct statements or overt actions ever could.
Betrayal will be directed by Janis Stevens (A Doll's House, The Homecoming, The Real Thing, Hedda Gabler, How I Learned To Drive, American Buffalo, Fool For Love) and will feature ELena Wright (A Doll's House, The Scene, In The Next Room Or The Vibrator Play), Michael Patrick Wiles (Disgraced, Uncanny Valley, The Real Thing, Hedda Gabler, Master Class, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, Fat Pig), Chad Deverman (A Doll's House, reasons to be pretty, Dying City), and Graham Scott Green (Capital Stage debut). The production design team will include Paul Kreutz (scenic design), Gail Russell (costume design), Ron Madonia (lighting design), Ed Lee (sound design), and Russell Dow (projections design).
Tickets are currently available at the Capital Stage Box Office, by phone at 916-995-5464, or online at capstage.org.
