Alberta Ballet’s sugar-plum version of the traditional holiday classic The Nutcracker returns with riveting storytelling that invites everyone to share in the rich and festive holiday spirit. Choreographed by Edmund Stripe, with spectacular sets and costumes by Emmy Award-winning designer Zack Brown, The Nutcracker takes place in the opulent grandeur of 19th century Imperial Russia. Danced to the glorious Tchaikovsky score, played live by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, this production “…sparkles like a Fabergé egg…” says the Vancouver Sun and extravagantly displays more than a million dollars in stunning sets and costumes. Add scores of dancing children, mice dressed as soldiers and snowflakes as princesses, and this ballet offers pure family entertainment and a great addition to your holiday traditions.
