FirstBicycle presents the world premiere of Elspeth Turner's debut play The Idiot at the Wall at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, directed by Emily Reutlinger. Previews play Aug 3-4, and the run continues Aug 5-25, 2012. All performances take place at 15:25 pm at Bedlam Theatre (Venue 49).

Set on a Hebridean island in the wake of World War One, this drama sees a traditional way of life struggle against the encroachment of the modern world, and challenges us to consider the power of prophecy over reason. Gaelic songs of the period enrich a score composed and arranged by Murdo Turner and Tim du Feu.

Celebrating her personal island heritage, and blending English with Gaelic, Turner's play traverses myth and reality to present a haunting tale all but lost to the modern world. This production roots itself in traditional Hebridean storytelling, and offers an authentic new voice in Scottish theatre.

The Idiot at the Wall is directed by Emily Reutlinger, with set designed by Eve Murray and costumes by Rebecca McLeod. The cast includes: Gregory Thomson, Scott Cadenhead, Elspeth Turner, Lucy Goldie, Angela Milton and Tim Barrow.

FirstBicycle Theatre is an Edinburgh based theatre company founded in 2012 ? Although both hailing from Scotland Co-Founders Elspeth Turner and Angela Milton first met each other whilst working in New York. The Idiot at the Wall is First Bicycle Theatre's first production. The Company boasts several cast members who have won much coveted BAFTA awards; Tim Barrow for The Inheritance and Lucy Goldie for Spring Forward Leap Back. The show plans to tour the production after the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
