Meet the rugby team with a gay bar as their clubhouse and a drag queen as their manager...
Faulty Productions presents Scene of the Titans, a new musical based on the true story of Northern Ireland's first gay-friendly rugby team. This premiere production blends the inspirational tale of seven men with original songs, dances, and all types of ball games. It runs at C Venues during the Edinburgh Fringe.
The Kremlin is Belfast's biggest gay bar, host to all kinds of characters from soldiers to drag queens. But you wouldn't often find rugby players there - that is, until regular Terry sets up gay-friendly team in a bid to impress a boy. The Titans are formed, reluctantly coached by single mother Mickey, and managed by the Kremlin's cross-dressing owner, Sophia. The team proves to be controversial, with opposition from friends and Government ministers alike. But the Titans have a goal in sight: the Bingham World Cup, an international rugby tournament hosted in Dublin. As the competition gets closer, friendships are tested and The Players begin to lose faith. It takes a mother's love for her son and a captain's love for his men to set them straight on the road to Dublin.
This hilarious and heart-warming musical is brought to you by Faulty Productions, a new Production Company dedicated to showcasing the finest in original writing and composing.
‘Scene of the Titans, like the team it was inspired by, will go all the way.'
