Desire and Pursuit, three one-man plays about beauty, faith and obsession, presented in London before Edinburgh Fringe debut, will play the Etcetera Theatre, 265 Camden High Street London NW1 7BU, Tue - Sun 8 - 13 July 7.30pm (Sun at 6.30pm). PRESS NIGHT 9 July 2014.

Martin Foreman's latest theatrical production is an intense and challenging portrait of three very different men obsessed by beauty and, in two cases, by their religious faith. Showing in London for one week in July before a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on 18 - 23 August.

Angel: Take This Body

A priest devotes his life to God and fights daily against the temptations of the flesh. Now confronts the man - or angel, or demon - who haunts him. Can a man control his desires or do they control him? What must he do to destroy the passions that threaten his soul?

Now We Are Pope: Frederick Rolfe in Venice

Eccentric writer Frederick Rolfe (1860-1913) rejoices in exile and the companionship of the gondoliers of Venice. Cantankerous, alone in his room, he relives his most famous novel, Hadrian VII, in which an Englishman denied the priesthood for most his life is suddenly elected Pope.

Tadzio Speaks . . . Death in Venice revisited

In Thomas Mann's classic story the writer von Aschenbach becomes increasingly obsessed with the beautiful Tadzio. Did the youth welcome or fear the writer's gaze? What impact did their encounter have on him? Decades later, Tadzio looks back at that fateful summer.

Featuring Christopher Peacock (Angel and Tadzio) and Christopher Annus (Now We Are Pope). Chris Peacock was well-known to Londoners for over a decade as a reporter for ITV's London Tonight before turning to acting in 2008. After studying and teaching drama for several years, Chris Annus spent much of his working life in management; he has recently returned to the stage.

Martin Foreman is the author of several novels, short story collections and dramas. His Californian Lives was widely praised at its premiere in 2013 ("utterly convincing portraits of love" Broadway World). In 2012 Martin won the New Writing Award at that year's Solo Festival for four one-man plays, including Angel, in which he played the priest.

Desire and Pursuit, three one-man plays about beauty, faith and obsession, will play the Etcetera Theatre, London, 8 - 13 July 2014 and TheSpace on North Bridge, Edinburgh Fringe, 18 - 23 August 2014.
