The Concrete Jungle, an original work from American composer Bobby Cronin opened at the Studio Theatre of London's Arts Educational School on 8th June, 2012, and runs until the 16th June, 2012. The show follows the lives and loves of a group of young singletons who have just moved to New York City as they share stories in their local bar, 'The Concrete Jungle'.
Bobby Cronin has performed concerts around the world and made his London debut at the New Players Theatre in February 2011 with his songs being performed by West End stars Samantha Barks, Hadley Fraser, Rosalie Craig, Liam Tamne, Jodie Jacobs, Sally Ann Triplett and Mark Evans to name but a few.
His new rock musical Welcome To My Life has been has just been optioned for First Class/Broadway development by commercial producers Adam Zotovich of New Vintage Theatricals, Judy Kent and Wendy Knudsen and his other works include Daybreak, Til Death Do Us Part, A Christmas Carol, Cyrana and Ten Reasons I Won't Go Home With You.
The Concrete Jungle is a romantic comedy specifically written for the graduating students of the Arts Educational School London. The prestigious drama school has taught and developed some of the world's leading performing artists across all disciplines for the last 90 years. Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber is the president of the school and well-known alumni include such renowned names as Julie Andrews, Jane Seymour, Sarah Brightman, Darcey Bussell and Martin Clunes along with a host of West End stars including Samantha Barks, Danielle Hope, Oliver Tompsett, Sally Ann Triplett, Scarlett, Zizi and Summer Strallen, Glenn Carter, Alasdair Harvey and Nigel Harman.
As well as writing and composing The Concrete Jungle, Cronin is also the show's director. Lewis Butler and Kathleen Gilbert choreograph, with musical direction from Mike Haslam. The Concrete Jungle was commissioned by ArtsEd's director of Musical Theatre, Chris Hocking, by special arrangement with James Beresford (Shepherd Management) and Penny Luedtke (The Luedtke Agency).
Hailed as 'one of the most exciting new writers of musical theatre around right now', Bobby Cronin has harnessed the phenomenal talents of the current ArtsEd students to create a piece of theatre not to be missed.
