TACTA—the Tulsa Area Community Theatre Alliance—is proud to announce a first-of-its-kind opportunity for Tulsa area youth, the first annual TACTA Theatre Blast. On June 27, students will spend the day working with some of the most talented theatre artists in town, learning acting, stage combat, mime, and other performance skills. Then, that evening, they’ll have a chance to perform what they’ve learned downtown in the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.

TACTA—in association with Clark Youth Theatre and Theatre Tulsa—is giving interested students the opportunity to learn from working theatre artists the skills they’ll need to succeed onstage. Made possible through a grant from the George Kaiser Family Foundation and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust, the TACTA Theatre Blast is truly a community-wide event.

To participate, students must attend an audition on May 30. This audition will take place at the offices of Theatre Tulsa, 207 N. Main Street in downtown Tulsa from 2pm-5pm. Students aged 11-18 are eligible to audition. A maximum of 40 students will be chosen to participate.

Participation in the event is free.

This program is part of TACTA’s continuing mission statement to make live theatre accessible to everyone, regardless of income, in the Green Country Area.

Students will be divided into middle school and high school groups for the June 27 classes.

The final performance will take place in the Norman Theatre, in the Tulsa PAC, at 8 pm. Tickets are free. For more information call 669-6455 or visit www.clarktheatre.com or www.tacta.net.

This production made possible in part by The Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust, The Urban Tulsa Weekly, The Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa, the George Kaiser Family Foundation, the Tulsa Parks and Recreation Department, and all the proud members of TACTA.
