Auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella”The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse is pleased to announce a auditions for “Cinderella” on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 5:00 PM. The timeless story of a simple peasant girl who crosses paths with royalty, falls head over heals in love and journeys through trails and tribulations to find her happily ever after. Framed with the memorable music of Rogers and Hammerstein, “Cinderella” is written for an adult cast with 6 women and 2 men in principle speaking/singing roles and a chorus of singing, dancing villagers. There are a very limited number of roles for children under the age of 15; specifically they would only be eligible for chorus work. The director is looking for strong, clear voices, fearless actors with as few conflicts as possible. A rehearsal schedule will be available for review at auditions. This is a large show and actors will be involved in helping the costumer/designer complete his/her design and in other stagecraft endeavors. There will also be good opportunity for at least six featured dancers in the chorus to add some complexity in the choreography and would not necessarily have to be singers or actors.
Actors should prepare a 2-minute or less song with accompaniment. Bring a tape/CD MP3, or preferred accompanist. Equipment and a piano will be provided. There may be an accompanist provided. If using the provided accompanist you must bring music, cut and in the correct key needed. A verse and chorus sung or spoken will be enough. Director Teresa Bringle prefers to interact with those auditioning and may have you repeat some of your audition with direction. If you do not know what to sing please learn Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music. (You can find karaoke version on line for less than $1)
Directed by Teresa Bringle with Choreography by David Rickel, this will be the third production in BACP’s 30th Season “Lust, Laughs and Love.”For further information, contact the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse Box Office at (918) 258-0077.
