On Sunday, the hit Canadian premiere of High School Musical 2 closed after 12 sold out performances at the Studio Theatre in the Toronto Centre for the Arts.
High School Musical 2: On Stage follows the summertime adventures of Troy, Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats as they work as staff members at the Lava Springs Country Club. The Wildcats are out to have the best summer of their lives, but Sharpay’s secret plan to steal Troy away from Gabriella threatens to ruin their plans. The stage version features all the songs from the movie, including “What Time Is It”, “You Are The Music In Me”, “Gotta Go My Own Way” and “Bet On It”, as well as the un-aired “Humuhumunukunukuapua'a”.
Extended not once, but twice, the response to the show and the cast was "overwhelming", says producer Jonathan Randall. "So much so that plans are in the works for a return engagement this summer."

High School Musical 2: On stage! included: Hani Zakaria as Troy Bolton, Tanya Katchouni as Gabriella Montez, Sky Fairchild-Waller as Ryan Evans, Kira-Jade as Sharpay Evans, Justin Thompson as Chad Danforth and Jazz Testolini as Taylor McKessie.
The company also included: Candice Brown, Morissa Brown,
James Clark, Diona Chattrisse Dolabaille, Ryan Echlin, Taylor Evans, Stefanie Farina, Jake Forrer, Alex Hanson, Brian Luckman, Khadija Morong, Paula Ng, Carina Oliveira and Nikki Ponte.
The production was directed by David Walcer, with choreography by Tanya Katchouni and Justin Thompson. Musical direction by Sandra Angers.
