HERE LIES LOVE Coming to Sydney, Australia in May 2015!

New York's smash hit musical Here Lies Love, which continues its open-end engagement at the Public Theater and is traveling across the pond this month with a London production opening at the Dorfman Theatre, is now set to go Down Under with an Australian production set to premiere in May 2015.

Producers Joey Parnes and Emursive in partnership with Rodney Rigby have announced that Deputy Premier of Australia's largest state, NSW and Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Andrew Stoner, have secured the Australian premiere of the acclaimed musical by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim which will open in Sydney in May 2015 as the theatrical center piece of the Vivid Festival.

Under the direction of Alex Timbers , Here Lies Love traces the astonishing journey of former Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos from her meteoric rise to power to her descent into infamy after the People Power Revolution.

Here Lies Love is neither a period piece nor a biography, neither a play nor a traditional musical, but instead it is an immersive theatrical event combining songs influenced by four decades of dance music, adrenaline-fueled choreography, and a remarkable 360-degree scenic and video environment, which goes beyond Imelda's near-mythic obsession with shoes to explore the tragic consequences of the abuse of power.

Australian producer Rodney Rigby of Newtheatricals said "Here Lies Love is unlike any musical previously staged in Australia -- it is a transformative experience with unique and immersive staging by director Alex Timbers, where actors perform on platforms and moving catwalks, creating a club-like environment whilst forging a special relationship between the actors and the audience".

Auditions for the Australian cast of Here Lies Love will commence in October. Rodney Rigby said "We are seeking female and male actors in their 20's and 30's reflecting the multiple ethnicities that are found throughout the population of the Republic of the Philippines, from the migrant arrivals from China, Spain, Korea and Southeast Asia, among other nations."

Under the direction of Alex Timbers, Here Lies Love played a critically acclaimed run last year at Public Theatre, and reopened for a commercial open-end off-Broadway run on May 1st of this year at the same space. Here Lies Love is a 90-minute theatrical experience. Set within a dance club atmosphere, audiences will stand and move with the actors. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended. Dancing is encouraged. The current performance schedule is as follows, Mondays and Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., Fridays at 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Later this month, Here Lies Love will open its second company in London at the Dorfman Theatre under the auspices of The National Theatre.
