Idomeneo at Kungliga Operan AB

King Idomeneo returning from the Trojan War. Victorious, and after many hard years of war, he'll finally get to see his beloved Crete. But the sea god Neptune sends a terrible storm and deep down in the depths of the sea Idomeneo promises to sacrifice the first person he meets to God - if he can keep his life. Neptune appeased. The storm subsides. Idomeneo reach the shore unharmed and meets a young man. It is Idamante, his own son. Idomeneo must escape his promise. But the gods lurking not so easy.

With Idomeneo renewed WA Mozart Italian opera through dense music and dramatic charge. Idomeneo is a co-production between the Royal Opera and the Drottningholm Palace Theatre and directs makes Tobias theorell whose sets of Un ballo in maschera and Stiffelio previously been a big success at the Royal Opera. Involved include mezzo soprano Katija Dragojevic, soprano Malin Byström and tenor Jonas Degerfeldt.
