Minor in Dance


As a dancer at Western, you will learn progressive and inclusive approaches to technique, performance, and collaborative artmaking, working with internationally known faculty and guest artists. We celebrate your individuality and varied interests within the field of dance and beyond and guide you in honing your artistic voice as performer, choreographer, and scholar. You will experience dance as a vital part of our society with practice in interdisciplinary artmaking, community building, and as a vehicle for social change. You will move and be moved with professional caliber technique classes. performances, and creative ventures for stage and screen. During your time at WWU, you will be empowered through our emancipatory approach to learning and be ready to embrace the challenge to lead the next generation pf artists and shape the future of dance. You will be immersed in a rich curriculum grounded in professional practices in dance technique and performance, somatics and dance science, choreography and creative process, dance history, career preparation and entrepreneurial skills, and interdisciplinary study.
