Home Academics Departments Theatre Arts Department of Theatre Arts Photo of Coates Theatre entrance in daylight Welcome to the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of the Incarnate Word. Theatre Arts, a department in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, offers comprehensive training and education encouraging students to develop as performers, producers, designers, directors and the many roles needed to create the art of theatre. UIW’s Department of Theatre Arts offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and is the only program in San Antonio that is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre, ensuring that students receive theatre training that will meet established national standards of excellence in terms of content, production quality and teaching practices. A 16:1 student/faculty ratio means classes are generally small and allow for closer interaction with faculty and peers as well as specialized instruction.

UNDER MILK WOOD to be Presented for One Weekend Only At UIW

Dylan Thomas's masterpiece UNDER MILK WOOD: a play for voices, will be presented by the Extended Run Players of the University of the Incarnate Word on Friday, October 22 at 7 pm and Saturday October 23 at 2 pm. Performances are in the recital hall, Seddon Hall, in the University's music building.

OPERA San Antonio Has Received NEA Art Works Grant

OPERA San Antonio is has announced the addition of a winter performance series to commence this February for the first time in the company's five-year history. The Capulets and Montagues is a beautiful interpretation of the iconic love story of Romeo and Juliet by Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini. OPERA San Antonio will present this lesser-known treasure of 19th century Italian opera in an experimental concert version at the University of the Incarnate Word on February 13th and 15th, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

OPERA San Antonio's Board of Directors is pleased to announce E. Loren Meeker as the General and Artistic Director. The company is also pleased to announce the engagement of Francesco Milioto as Music Director. Garnett Bruce, who has served as Co-Artistic Advisor with Ms. Meeker, will continue as Artistic Advisor to the company.
