Virginia Rep has announced the 2024-2025 Season: an exciting line-up of musicals, plays, and special presentations at all three locations, including the Signature Season at the November Theatre downtown, the Barksdale Season at Hanover Tavern, and the Family Season in the Jessie Bogese Theatre at the Virginia Rep Center for Arts and Education. Partner productions in the Theatre Gym and additional community partnerships will be announced at a later time. 

I am joined by the incredible multi-hyphenate, Robert Schneider, to talk all about his incredible work in the world of theater and the arts. We touch on the shifting landscape of contemporary musical theater, and how best to prepare the next generation for the ever-changing nature of Broadway. We talk about Rob's work as an Original Programming Producer at the Tony Award winning 54 Below, alongside such amazing artists as Stephen Schwartz, John Kander, Andre DeShields, and more.

Lisa Dawn Miller who manages the legacy song catalogue of her father, legendary songwriter, Ron Miller (1932-2007) has announced a new show, 'For Once in My Life - The Songs of Ron Miller' (foronceinmylife.com). Presented by 54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, the show is co-produced by director, Robert W. Schneider and premieres October 8, 2023.

The 5th Annual AAFCA TV Honors distinguished achievement recipients were revealed by the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA). The “We See You” Award, given to performers who demonstrate versatility in their work, will go to Jennifer Hudson, host of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television’s “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”

Co-produced by Grammy winning bassist/bandleader John Clayton, who worked with McCann when she performed at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles in 2021, and longtime collaborator guitarist Fareed Haque, McCann’s Do I Move You? was created at the end of the COVID-19 quarantine period.

 In a historic move, Virginia Repertory Theatre has acquired the Scottish Rite Temple, which will become the new home for its Children’s Theatre. It will be known as the Virginia Rep Center for Arts and Education and will house children’s theatre productions, educational touring programs, camps, classes, and workshops.

Caroline Aaron, actor, producer, writer, and Southern Jew will appear at The Braid on January 16.

Virginia Repertory Theatre has named Desirée Roots as Co-Artistic Director Community. Roots is one of Virginia's best known and most accomplished performing artists. She is the first of three Co-Artistic Directors to be announced in a new leadership model that will steer all artistic aspects of Central Virginia's flagship professional theatre according to Phil Whiteway, Managing Director and co-founder of Virginia Rep. 

Union University Theatre Department is currently presenting Twelfth Night, a Shakespeare in the Park production. Performances began on October 8 and run through the 13th.
