Minor in Music
|
Create, listen, and appreciate music through the music minor, available to students in all undergraduate majors. Students will take core classes in musicianship, piano, and applied music. From there, they can gain credit for joining one of our on-campus ensembles. To round out their minor, students also may select from classes in music appreciation, music technology, pop music, world music, classical chamber music, or music as a form of social protest.

One month after the close of its 86th season, Jacob's Pillow announces record-breaking ticket sales for its acclaimed summer dance festival. The organization reports over $2.5 million in ticket sales, an increase of 13% when compared with 2017; over 40,000 tickets were sold, an increase of 5%, when compared with last year. The season boasts 10,000 unique ticket buyers, an increase of 8% and the largest number since the organization began tracking this particular indicator in 2005.
Dancing Through College & Beyond Participants Awarded Over $3.4 Million In College Scholarships

Brooklyn-based dance education non-profit Dancewave is pleased to announce that over 65% of the students who participated in the 2017 college dance audition program, Dancing Through College & Beyond (DTCB), have been offered over $3.4 million in scholarships to participating colleges, universities and professional dance programs. Held in October 2017 at the 92nd Street Y, DTCB welcomed more than 300 students from all over the country for an opportunity to explore college dance programs. DTCB includes a college fair, master classes, and panels on health, wellness, careers, and financial aid for all high school dancers and a live audition for high school seniors.

Mare Nostrum Elements, founded and directed by Kevin Albert and Nicola Iervasi, presents, in collaboration with LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, the fifth annual Emerging Choreographer Series (ECS), showing works by nine young dancemakers. The talented choreographers, selected from a group of 79 applicants this year, are indeed fortunate in the many benefits ECS offers.
