Theater is a creative and collaborative art in which true excellence can only be achieved through exploration of craft. Our focus in the theater department at Mason Gross School of the Arts is to provide aspiring theater professional with a unique experience including intensive studio classes, innovative academic curricula and ground-breaking fully-supported productions. Rutgers' proximity to New York City is one of the programs greatest assets and plays an important role in making the profession accessible. In addition to our students being minutes away from a wide variety of exciting theater and other cultural activities, our location allows us to retain an exceptional faculty of working professionals and give our students a direct connection to the profession through internships and collaborations.

The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC), City of New Brunswick, and George Street Playhouse today announced The Elizabeth Ross Johnson Theater and The Arthur Laurents Theater named after two George Street Playhouse benefactors. The $7.75 million in gifts, the largest in George Street Playhouse history, strengthens NBPAC as the premier center for the performing arts. NBPAC, a $172 million redevelopment initiative that will transform New Brunswick's Downtown Cultural Arts District, opens its doors to the public this fall.

The Rolling World Premiere Of RED BIKE Comes to The Wilbury Theatre Group

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces the continuation of its 80th Rolling World Premiere (RWP) production. Red Bike by Caridad Svich opens at The Wilbury Theatre Group (Providence, R.I.) on February 21 and runs through March 3. Other Partner Theatres for this RWP were Simpatico Theatre (Philadelphia), PYGmalion Productions (Salt Lake City), and Know Theatre of Cincinnati. Red Bike was presented at NNPN's 2017 National Showcase of New Plays, hosted by Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.
