Soulpepper Theatre presents the world premiere of WILDWOMAN, a viciously bold and sexy comedy based on the shocking true story that inspired Beauty and the Beast. Written and directed by Kat Sandler, WILDWOMAN features Rosemary Dunsmore, Dan Mousseau, Rose Napoli, Tony Ofori and Gabriella Sundar Singh, and runs from October 5 to 29, 2023 at the Baillie Theatre, Young Centre for the Performing Arts.

Soulpepper Theatre will present the Canadian premiere of King Gilgamesh & the Man of the Wild, a delightful new hybrid theatre-music production that brings the epic tale of Gilgamesh to life on stage. Directed by Seth Bockley, and featuring Ahmed Moneka and Jesse LaVercombe alongside celebrated Arabic-Maqam fusion band, Moneka Arabic Jazz, King Gilgamesh & the Man of the Wild will be presented July 25 to August 6, 2023 at the Michael Young Theatre, Young Centre for the Performing Arts.

The National Theatre School of Canada received a $1.5M donation from the Slaight Family Foundation — the largest in the School’s 62 year history. NTS is one of 22 nationally recognized beneficiaries who have received support as part of a $15M initiative by the Foundation to help revive the Canadian theatre industry post-pandemic.

This year, The Theatre Centre is embarking on what may be the most ambitious year of creation in its history. They will be supporting an unprecedented 16 projects led by 20 artists; creating two new development streams and more.

575 artists from 10 Canadian provinces and 2 territories have applied for the Art Apart project. This initiative by the National Theatre School of Canada (NTS) will provide $60,000 in support to emerging artists (as 80 grants of $750), who are facing increased financial precariousness due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Nightwood Theatre's Board of Directors are thrilled to announce Andrea Donaldson as the new Artistic Director. With nearly 20 years of professional experience, Andrea has been a vibrant presence in Toronto's theatre scene. She has worked as a playwright, actor, and producer but most significantly she has focused her career on Directing and Artistic Direction with a strong emphasis on new play development and nurturing women's voices. Andrea will assume her new role in May 2019. Kelly Thornton will remain Artistic Director until April 30, 2019.
