Minor in Music

Strong minds make strong musicians and are better equipped to spread the joy of music to others. As a music major or minor at Illinois College, your focus will be on developing your musical abilities as a whole - from theoretical and historical to practical and hands-on. Music students are held to a high academic standard and scholarship plays a primary role in all music classes. Classes in theory, history, orchestration, composition, conducting and analysis for the core of a rigorous and challenging program. Peformance-based classes, such as ensembles and lesson, as well as frequent recitals, mold students into individual artists with distinct interpretation and vision.
