The School of Communication, Film & Theatre (CFT) benefits from collaboration and synergy to offer students a multitude of educational and developmental opportunities. Our degrees are among the signature programs on the UNG-Gainesville campus and prepare students for careers in filmmaking, journalism, public relations, organizational leadership, technical theatre, acting, digital media production, and many other related professions. The common thread among our programs is storytelling in all its forms. CFT’s facilities are among the best in the southeast, and our top-notch professional educators utilize hands-on, individualized training in our state-of-the-art classrooms and labs to ensure students get an undergraduate experience full of opportunity. Something I have said many times is that I wish audience members would fully realize the amount of work and the amount of people it takes to put on a production. The things I have heard in theatre lobbies are both scary and laughable at the same time. Things like 'Oh, I want a chance to crash that chandelier. It's just one button!' or 'Wow, that didn't look hard at all. I could do that easily'. Well folks, working in theatre is not an easy profession. It comes with lots of stress and long days but if you have the drive and passion, it can be very fulfilling.

Get your ducks in a row and waddle on down to see The Ugly Duckling presented by Gainesville Theatre Alliance's WonderQuest. In this original play, a misfit duckling leaves the nest in search of adventure, family, and his own identity. The new script has its world premiere, Friday, Sep. 27 at 7:30 pm in Brenau University's historic Pearce Auditorium, 200 Boulevard NE, Gainesville.
