Bachelor of Arts in Music

Bachelor of Science in Music Education

Minor in Music


Music is a non-professional liberal arts degree for students who wish to study a general music curriculum. The program includes music theory, music history, conducting, music technology, applied music (private lessons) and participation in ensembles. Recipients of this degree may continue with graduate study in music, enter professional schools such as law or medicine, work in music-related fields such as publishing, retail business, recording, or arts management, or work in other fields not requiring a specific bachelor’s degree

Schmidt Vocal Arts Names Award-Winners of Inaugural High School National Competition

Schmidt Vocal Arts has announced that soprano Nicole DiPasquale (18) has won the top prize of $10,000 in the first national edition of the Schmidt Vocal Competition. Hailing from Tampa, Florida, DiPasquale has just graduated with a Cambridge international diploma from Bell Creek Academy High School. Second prize of $7,500 went to soprano Dalila Lugo (17) of Miami, Florida, and third prize of $5,000 to tenor Benjamin Riverón (17) of San Antonio, Texas.

Orlando Ballet Announces Leadership Changes

Jorden Morris, the current Choreographer-in-Residence, has been appointed as Guest Artistic Director for Orlando Ballet's 2021-22 season. Morris is well-known to Orlando Ballet staff, dancers, students, and audiences for the 2020-2021 season performances of his works Moulin Rouge and Peter Pan. Both are among the most popular performances in Orlando Ballet's history, despite Covid limitations.

Chicago Dance History Project Announces Interview Marathon Schedule

Chicago Dance History Project (CDHP) has confirmed the lineup and schedule for its Interview Marathon on January 31. Interviewees will appear live from international locations and around the U.S. CDHP Executive/Artistic Director Jenai Cutcher will conduct all the interviews from Chicago's historic Auditorium Theatre, which has donated its space for the event.
