We are committed to the study and practice of theater as the core of a liberal education. We believe in theater as another way of knowing, a discipline that investigates the human condition from the inside. Our program provides a broad experience of all aspects of theater. Both in our department's course work and in Theater Emory’s professional productions, we focus on essential skills and diverse perspectives, but also on innovative approaches to creating original work. Artistic research seeks to break new ground, distinctively contributing to Emory’s goals as a research university committed to undergraduate education.
