DEGREES OFFERED

Minor in Musical Theatre

Theatre is magic - it is rising above the everyday to say something universal and unique about what it means to be human. At EKU, we work to make theatre come alive everyday for every audience. Whether you are a developing actor, a budding designer or technician, or an involved audience member, theatre is a place to grow and learn - about yourself and the world around you. A small program within the larger Department of English and Theatre, EKU Theatre is an independent entity in our curriculum, production program and dedication to our students. Student majors - teaching and non-teaching - take courses across the curriculum. Both majors require coursework in acting, design, directing, dance, technical theatre, history and literature which will make you a well-rounded theatre student as well as an educated citizen of the world. Our production program mounts four major presentations each year, one of which is always a musical. Our seasons represent the full scope of dramatic history from the ancient classics to the most contemporary scripts available, and auditions are open to everyone, regardless of major. If technical theatre is more your interest, our scene and costume shops welcome your participation. Our small size allows the faculty to work very closely with every student in the classroom, technical theatre labs and in rehearsal. When you look closer, we think you'll want to join us and be a part of this incredible art form known as theatre!
