EIU music graduates are leaders in the fields of music education and performance, and many graduates have gone on to become successful music teachers, ensemble directors, university educators, and professional performers. All music majors take weekly hour-long lessons on their primary instrument or voice. Our applied music faculty are highly-skilled professional musicians and educators, and each an expert on his or her instrument. All students participate in ensembles every semester, and many students play in more than one. Students frequent collaborate with one another in and out of the classroom, developing a spirit of cooperation and a shared love of music.
