Bachelor of Arts in Music (Industry Studies)


Music Department in School of Humanities offers two majors/programs: Vocal Performance and Music Industry, which lead to a degree of Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music. The challenging curricula of these programs equip students with a solid musical foundation and skills as well as the knowledge for entering graduate schools and other professional programs. Students will be prepared for a career in entertainment industries, church music ministry, and vocal music performance. The two programs adapt the students-centered approaches for teaching and learning practices. The renowned Dillard University Concert Choir creates many opportunities to students to perform on and off Dillard campus. Music Department often collaborates with the Theater Department in partnership with local churches and other communities around the country.

Karamu House, the oldest African American theatre in the country, presents the American premiere of The Adventures of The Black Girl in Her Search for God from March 22 through April 15, 2018. Performances of this sidesplitting comedy written by celebrated Canadian playwright Lisa Codrington, and based on the short story by George Bernard Shaw will be held in Karamu's intimate Arena Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio. Directed by Nina Domingue, the cast is led by India Pierre-Ingram in the title role and includes Kaila Benford, Robert Branch, Samantha Cocco, Michael Head, Mary-Francis R. Miller, Prophet D.
