Diploma of Collegial Studies in Professional Theatre (Acting)
|
This three-year career program will train you to work as a professional actor, exploring a wide range of acting techniques for theatre and film, with performances both in-studio, and in full-scale theatrical productions staged in Dawson’s new theatre. Our training comprises conservatory style, in-studio classes in acting, voice, movement, improvisation, stage combat (including sword-fighting), dance, and acting for camera. We also provide a well-rounded theatrical education with classes in technical theatre, classical and contemporary text, and theatre history.

On December 7 at 7:00pm at Dawson College Theatre, Imago Theatre in association with the Dawson College Peace Centre will present a reading of Colleen Murphy's The December Man with a renowned Canadian creative team to commemorate the 14 lives lost in the Ecole Polytechnique shooting and fundraise for the women's shelter Chez Doris. The December Man focuses on the lives of Jean Fournier, a young engineering student who witnessed the Polytechnique massacre, and his parents, Kathleen and Benoît, as they struggle to cope in the aftermath of a violent hate crime. The December Man is an intimately human story about family, courage, survival, the depths of love and the scar tissue marks of hate.

The BWW Montreal Emerging Talent, Student Edition aims to highlight students who are up-and-coming talents in the Montreal performing arts community. They are accomplished performers who have distinguished themselves with their work ethic, character, and talent and aim to pursue a career in the performing arts after graduation.

The Grand Theatre is thrilled to announce a first-time collaboration with the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.), bringing A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS to the Spriet Stage. This acclaimed stage adaptation, based on the award-winning novel by Khaled Hosseini, had its world premiere in San Francisco in July 2016 and became the bestselling production in A.C.T.'s history.
