For more than a century, the Petrie School of Music has been a beacon for passionate musicians and a standard-bearer for artistic excellence. A founding member of the National Association of Schools of Music (way back in 1928!) the Petrie School hosts around 200 concerts every year — fully staged operas, a world-class chamber music series, symphony orchestra, wind ensemble, choirs, and dozens of student recitals. No matter what your musical passion, you’ll find a path to your professional future at Petrie. We offer 12 undergraduate majors and 6 graduate programs — each with an additional 10 subspecialties! And our artist faculty of specialists plus our student-teacher ratio of 7:1 ensure that your unique gifts and goals will be cultivated by professional mentors of the highest order.

Debbie Bell Will Retire As Executive Director Of South Carolina Children's Theatre

Chamber Music Society Announces February Concerts

CMS's 50th anniversary season will celebrate the 250th birthday of Beethoven with the 2020 edition of the Winter Festival of performances of all sixteen of the master's string quartets. They will be performed in groups corresponding to the composer's early, middle, and late periods, in the order they were composed between 1798 and 1826. Performing the sixteen quartets is a mental, physical, and emotional challenge for the artists, and they are rarely performed as a set.  For the CMS Winter Festival the performances will be by the critically-acclaimed Danish String Quartet. 

The Kennedy Center Announces 50th KCACTF National Festival

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the National Festival. These student artists from across the United States have been recognized for their outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 8 through February 28, 2019.

The McCammon Voice Competition Announces The 2018 McCammon Semi-Finalists

The 2018 McCammon Voice Competition judges have chosen the semi-finalists for the eighteenth biennial competition, to be held on March 16, 2018 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The finals will be held March 17, 2018 at Bass Performance Hall.
