Bachelor of Arts in Music


Students in the Chatham University Music Program engage with music from myriad perspectives while developing critical thinking and effective communication skills through the undergraduate college's liberal arts environment. All music students receive a strong foundation in musicianship, music theory and music history, and participate in private vocal or instrumental instruction with some of the region's best performers including members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will launch a new apprenticeship program in 2021, offering academic courses alongside performance  opportunities with the PBT company. The program will be offered to five young dancers for the 2021-2022 performance season. Apprenticeship positions have been made possible through a generous gift from Hans and Leslie Fleischner.

1969 saw Nixon's swearing in, an escalation in Vietnam, a moon landing, and Woodstock. In that same year, a group of visionaries in Pittsburgh founded the Renaissance & Baroque Society, which over time became one of the oldest and most revered organizations of its kind in America. Maurice Hines to Emcee 2018 Arena Stage Gala with Mary McBride as Headliner

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Director Edgar Dobie are pleased to announce that Broadway legend Maurice Hines will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and international touring artist and global humanitarian Mary McBride will headline the 2018 Arena Stage Gala honoring Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., SW). As previously announced, the Gala features the presentation of the third annual Beth Newburger Schwartz Award to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and will recognize Jessica Stafford Davis as an Emerging Leader. The Gala is helmed by event chairs and Arena Stage Trustees Lavern Chatman and Maggie FitzPatrick.
