Roundabout Theatre Company will present the second season of The Refocus Project, its multi-year project to elevate and restore marginalized plays to the American canon. The final two readings will be The Harlem Hellfighters On A Latin Beat on Thursday, June 23 at 7pm, and El Corrido De California on Monday, June 27, 7pm.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts virtually hosted more than 125 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. 

Tiffany Lopez, visionary artist and administrator and proven champion for diversity and inclusion, has been named dean of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine, following a nationwide search. She will assume the post on July 1.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that playwright and theatre professor, Paul Carter Harrison, has died at 85.While teaching at California State University, Sacramento (1970–1972), Harrison conceived and directed Melvin Van Peebles’ “Ain’t Supposed To Die a Natural Death” prior to its Broadway production, and wrote his play The Great MacDaddy which was produced by the Negro Ensemble Company in 1973, and won an Obie Award.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced the national awardees of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, which was held virtually in convenings for each discipline that began on March 8, 2021 and continued through May 22, 2021.
