The mission of the Department of Music and Theatre is to provide our students with opportunities to excel through disciplined study and practice in high-quality facilities, classes, performance ensembles and productions.
We seek to sustain the academic and artistic vitality of the performing and recording arts at California State University, Chico. We provide a fertile learning environment, which nurtures student creativity, Scholarship, diversity, and entrepreneurship, enhanced by the collaboration of students, faculty and staff. We promote the education, appreciation and enjoyment of the Arts on the campus and in the greater North State community.

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 9-14, 2018 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF.
