Brenau University, with the combined support of the University of North Georgia, Theatre Wings, and the Professional Company, has the top-ranked theatre program in the state of Georgia. This dynamic collaboration is the Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA).
This theatre program provides artists and audiences quality theatrical experiences that educate, inspire, enrich and unite. GTA is a collaborative ensemble of students, community members and professionals that recognizes learning and growth as its primary goal. The development of skills, intellect, commitment and a generous spirit are nurtured with respect and compassion. The reward is the opportunity to work among a group of people dedicated to celebrating life – to learn and grow while practicing the art and craft of theatre.

Something I have said many times is that I wish audience members would fully realize the amount of work and the amount of people it takes to put on a production. The things I have heard in theatre lobbies are both scary and laughable at the same time. Things like 'Oh, I want a chance to crash that chandelier. It's just one button!' or 'Wow, that didn't look hard at all. I could do that easily'. Well folks, working in theatre is not an easy profession. It comes with lots of stress and long days but if you have the drive and passion, it can be very fulfilling.
Gainesville Theatre Alliance Announces Spring 2021 Virtual Season

Gainesville Theatre Alliance has announced two digital offerings to close their 2020-21 season. Due to continued COVID-19 restrictions at both Brenau University and the University of North Georgia, both shows will be filmed and edited through a collaboration with UNG's Film Department and streamed to audiences for free.

As told by a traveling troupe of actors led by the cunning and charming Leading Player, Pippin is the story of a young prince, heir to the throne, who returns from university certain that he will find a fulfilling purpose in life. He dabbles in bloody battle, licentious and lusty entanglements, and savvy political maneuvers, only to discover that true happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but in the ordinary moments that happen every day. As part of their February Festival, Gainesville Theatre Alliance will present Pippin Feb 11-22 at Brenau University's Hosch Theatre.

Horizon Theatre Company is continuing its outstanding 35th Anniversary Season with one of the most critically acclaimed plays of the past decade, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Winner of 7 Olivier Awards and 5 Tony Awards including 'Best Play,' the show brings Mark Haddon's beloved best-selling novel to thrilling life on stage, adapted by two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens. Horizon Theatre Company's Atlanta premiere starts performances September 20, 2019 (Press Opening September 27, 2019) and runs until October 27, 2019 at Horizon Theatre in Little Five Points/Inman Park (1083 Austin Avenue N.E., Atlanta, GA 30307) Atlanta. This show is a co-production between Horizon Theatre Company and Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, Georgia. This production will move to Aurora for a run from January 9 through February 9, 2020. The play is sponsored in part by The Marcus Autism Center, a subsidiary of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and Osiason Educational Foundation.
Bay Street Theater Intern Co Announces INCOGNITO Cast And Creative Team

Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the summer intern production, INCOGNITO by Nick Payne, directed by Bay Street's DirectingProducing intern Kellie M. Beck and starring Bay Street Theater's 2019 Acting Apprentices. This production will run as a show directed, produced, designed and acted entirely by the summer intern company at Bay Street Theater. Performances run from August 8 - 10 with twilight performances at 4 pm. Tickets will be sold as Pay What You Can style directly at the box office.
