Godspell at Joburg Theatre

Godspell comes to The Lesedi Theatre at Joburg Theatre from August 29 to September 1, 2024, presented by Oakfields College's musical theatre and dance department. This dynamic production, directed by Tracey Human with musical direction by Dale Ray, features a talented cast of students alongside guest stars Grant Towers as Judas and Raymond Skinner as Jesus. Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, the musical integrates a series of parables and songs like ‘Day by Day’ and ‘Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord’, continuing a legacy of challenging boundaries in South African theatre that began with its first production in 1973.
