Mean Girls Photos - Broadway

Tina Fey’s 2004 cult teen classic film MEAN GIRLS, made its way to Broadway in 2018 and has been playing to sold-out houses ever since.  The musical is presented as a “Cautionary Tale,” about the cut-throat, caustic social climbing and clamoring that happens in high school where mean girls reign supreme.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play by Jocelyn Bioh, directed by Awoye Timpo.

Pittsburgh Public Theater continues its 45th anniversary season with the Pittsburgh premiere of School Girls; Or The African Mean Girls Play. A smash hit Off-Broadway last year, the play was written by Jocelyn Bioh, a first generation American whose parents emigrated from Ghana in West Africa. Directed by Kenyan native Shariffa Ali, School Girls runs November 7 - December 8, 2019 at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District. BroadwayWorld has a first look at The Mean Girls National Tour which launched on September 21 in Buffalo, NY. Mean Girls features a book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the film, music by three-time Emmy Award winner Jeff Richmond; and lyrics by two-time Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

The national tour of MEAN GIRLS lit up Minneapolis last night for Mean Girls Day by turning the I-35W bridge pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in partnership with the American Cancer Society. So fetch!

It's a hit! Broadway vets, Danette Holden, who was last seen in New York City in the acclaimed Off Broadway production of Cagney, the Musical and Kevin Csolak, currently in Tina Fey's Mean Girls on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre hosted Hunterdon's Stangl Stage Holiday Cabaret, Shine On, to high acclaim this past Sunday. Produced by LBC Talent, NYC the event featured multigenerational homegrown Hunterdon County talent making their mark on the world stage on Broadway, in the music industry, in film and television.

The encore production will be performed at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street) from October 16th through November 25th.

Before last night's special fan performance for lucky lottery winners, New York City Commissioner of Media and Entertainment Julie Menin honored the cast and creative team of Broadway's new musical 'Mean Girls' by re-naming W. 52nd Street between Broadway & 8th Avenue 'W. Fetch Street,' outside the August Wilson Theatre 245 W 52nd St., Manhattan. The cast in full costume, creative team and Commissioner gathered on the sidewalk at 5 minutes to curtain to make the announcement.

School is back in session….in preparation for their return to NYC at MCC's Lucille Lortel Theater in October, the cast of School Girls, or, The African Mean Girls Play, currently playing at CTG's Kirk Douglas Theatre in LA through September 30th was photographed by Luke Fontana.  The shoot was styled by Bold in Africa with the stylist being Kemiyondo Coutinho and they are all dressed in current African designs. 

Any teenage girl enrolled in any secondary school around the world can tell you how they were tormented or teased by other girls for some reason, be it their weight, height, hair, or lack of the latest hip clothing to wear. Based only on physical appearance, little regard was paid by the most popular Queen Bee to the real circumstances of others' lives which prevented others from living up to her unrealistic expectations of those she was willing to call 'friends' in her inner circle. I can certainly remember being excluded from the more popular groups of friends in high school, not only for my weight but for my lack of interest in boys and obsession with The Beatles. Think back and I bet you can remember similar experiences you lived through or how you made fun of others you perceived as not being worthy of your inner circle friendship.

Broadway Workshop, the country's top training program for young performers, celebrated their tenth anniversary summer by welcoming Broadway's biggest stars to lead programs in New York City.

Rehearsals began in New York City for the upcoming return engagement of Jocelyn Bioh's acclaimed award-winning comedy "School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play", directed by Rebecca Taichman, which will be presented by MCC Theater at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, 121 Christopher Street , October 16th through October 25th. Official opening night is set for October 22nd.

Arena Stage presents the world premiere of the new musical Dave. By three-time Tony Award winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers), two-time Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin (Mean Girls, Legally Blonde) and Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then), Dave is inspired by the Academy Award-nominated American political comedy film.
