Elizabeth Swados was a multi-talented artist who made a significant impact on the world of theater. Born in Buffalo, New York in 1951, Swados began her career in the arts at a young age. She attended Bennington College in Vermont, where she studied music and theater, and later went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Patricia McGourty has had the good fortune to experience three art and design careers. As a costume designer she worked in stage and film in New York and California for 18 years collaborating with creative teams on productions ranging from Shakespeare Festivals to Broadway musicals. She has worked with directors Des McAnuff, Wilford Leach, Lynne Meadow, Garland Wright, Edward Berkeley, Melvin Bernhardt, Barnett Kellman, Bob Balaban and John Dillon on numerous projects.
