Ian Axness is a music director and collaborative pianist based in Brooklyn, NY. His work ranges from opera to cabaret to contemporary musical theater, moving dynamically between script, lead sheet, and score. He is currently working on two new musicals in development, by way of New Dramatists. Ian has collaborated with students at CAP 21, Brooklyn College, Oberlin, NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Gallatin, and the National Theater Institute, and worked as a teaching artist for New York City Opera. He currently teaches at Playwrights Horizons Theater School. BA: Oberlin.
