He studied piano and composition at the Juilliard School of Music while in high school and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1968 with a B.F.A. in Drama. He has produced numerous Broadway shows, including the Tony Award-winning productions of "Dear Evan Hansen" and "Once on This Island." Caiola's love for theater began at a young age. He grew up in a family that was heavily involved in the arts, and he spent much of his childhood attending shows and performances.
