Jane Alexander is an American actress who has had a successful career in film, television, and theater. Born in Boston in 1939, Alexander grew up in a family of intellectuals and artists. Her father was a prominent economist and her mother was a composer and music teacher. Alexander attended Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied theater and earned a degree in English.
