Dean was born in Northern Ireland, where he directed his first show aged 12, in a small theatre in Belfast, and continued to follow this passion throughout his childhood, before studying at The Guildford School of Acting.

Dean's career has seen a number of works, over a broad range of material including Godspell, featuring Ramin Karimloo, Kerry Ellis and George Maguire, for which Dean was nominated for the Broadwayworld.com Award for Best Director of a Musical in the West End 2016.
