Richard is currently the founding General Manager and Artistic Director of the Vass Theatre Group which owns and operates the Alex Theatre St. Kilda.
In October 2014, Aleksandar Vass invited him to redevelop the three former George Cinemas and turn them into three mid-size, commercial theatres capable of staging a variety of live performance and cinema. In February 2015, after extensive renovation, the new Alex Theatre St Kilda turned on it's lights and has been growing in popularity ever since.

Barry is in his 36th year of partnership with artistic director Lynne Meadow at MTC, where he has produced hundreds of American and world premieres for MTC.
